As a kid growing up in the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque, Durango became a popular and easy destination for family vacations. Beginning in the early 1970’s, my parents, 3 sisters and I enjoyed summer camping and fishing at Molas Lake and long weekend ski trips at Purgatory. My parents (and us girls!) fell in love with the area – and soon after they invested in their first piece of property along Lime Creek Road just north of Purgatory. Over the years, they also owned a condo at Silverpick, and then purchased a lake-front property, 1 mile south of the ski area, where they eventually built their dream home and retired.
After high school I attended NMSU in Las Cruces where I studied humanities and math. After 2 years, I began to miss home, and especially my trips to the cooler climate and mountains of Durango. It never occurred to me that I could live and thrive in a favorite vacation destination, and decided to give it a try. Excited and determined, I packed up my ’77 Scout and headed north – Durango or bust. The best move I ever made! I completed continuing education at Fort Lewis College, and began my “new” ski resort lifestyle and career in real estate.
I have two amazing children who were born and raised in the north county where they too have thrived in the splendor of our mountain community and the endless recreation we have been blessed to enjoy right outside our front door. My daughter Ryann obtained her B.S. in Chemistry from CSU, class of 2021 in Fort Collins, CO and as a post-baccalaureate student, is applying her education to research and analytics, currently employed at Los Alamos National Laboratory. My son Ian is a DHS 2021 graduate who participated in extra-curricular clubs, specifically to explore his passion for the culinary arts - including an opportunity to work alongside the best Chef(s) in Durango at the exclusive Electra Lake Boat House. He continues to work in the restaurant industry and hopes to pursue continued education and international travels in the future. Living in the beautiful San Juans has certainly had a positive impact on both my career path and that of my children – as well as our personal growth, gratitude, motivation and inspiration behind our passions to succeed and make a difference in our community.
I am so grateful and blessed to live in such an inspiring community, doing what I love most, sharing that appreciation with great friends, family and clients I have maintained strong relationships with over the years. This is home…. And, I look forward to working with you in finding your next home too.
