As a kid growing up in the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque, NM, Durango became a popular and easy destination for my family to escape from our busy schedules. Beginning in the early 1970’s, my family and I would enjoy summer camping and fishing at Molas Lake and long weekend ski trips at Purgatory. My parents fell in love with the southwest and Durango in particular. They purchased their first piece of property near the ski area, “Purgatory”, in the early 1970’s.
After high school I attended NMSU in Las Cruces, NM where I studied humanities and education with an emphasis in secondary math. After 2 years, I began to miss home, and especially my trips to the cooler climate and mountains of Durango. It never really occurred to me that I could actually live where we vacationed, but decided to give it a try. Excited and determined, I packed up my ’77 Scout and headed north – Durango or bust. The best move I ever made! I completed continuing education at Fort Lewis College and began my “new” ski resort lifestyle.
I have two wonderful children who love the outdoors and are active in all sorts of recreation that the resort lifestyle offers…I can’t imagine living or raising a family anywhere else, and am so grateful and blessed to have the opportunity to live in such an inspiring community, doing what I love most, sharing that appreciation with great friends, family and clients I have maintained strong relationships with over the years. This is home…. And, I look forward to working with you in finding your next home too.
In 1993 I became the office manager at Needles Real Estate. This was my opportunity to be more specialized and “hands on” in real estate which I had always been interested in. It was this career move, when I made a commitment to learn and explore as much as possible of this great north county mountain community. I received my Associate’s license in May of 1994, and my business has grown each year ever since, having participated in a majority of sales listing and/or selling transaction side. I have consistently maintained one of the top tier positions amongst resort area brokers in total sales and dollar volume. My most recent affiliation was serving on the Board of our Durango Area Association of Realtors Ethics Committee. I have also recently obtained my certificate of completion of the NAR Resort and Second Home Markets Course. Locally, I have contributed to many charitable events including the Columbine Children’s Fund and Adaptive Sports Ski Association. My family and I continue to be very active in the resort and Durango community.
In 2007, I briefly explored a development real estate firm on the mountain. I am very appreciative for the valuable knowledge I took with me concerning the master plan and new products currently available, as well as what is planned for the future of the resort. I am now even better experienced and educated to truly cover more ground than any competing broker on the mountain. I will continue to specialize in resale properties, existing neighborhoods, as well as new development product available. In addition to cabins, water-front locations, condos, ski-in/ski-out, and vacant land, I also have commercial/development property available.
I was thrilled to (re)open at our Needles Square Branch where I’ve spent most of my 27+ years, merging with Wells Group Real Estate Brokerage in 2011, representing all segments of the real estate market at Purgatory and all of north-county.
